Paral Masjid

The famous Paral Nercha and the grand Ratheeb held at the Paral Mosque near Thalakkadathur in Tirur were instituted by Vadakkan Pokker Musliyar.
He established this Ratheeb and Nercha as a spiritual recourse to seek protection from an epidemic that was spreading rapidly at the time.
Even today, tens of thousands of people participate in this annual festival, which has gained immense popularity among the public. People attend in large numbers, transcending barriers of caste and religion.
It is also one of the rare festivals where devotees offer pathiri (flatbreads) matching their body weight or height as a vow (nercha).
