British Bangalow, Banglavumkunnu
Location
The village office formerly functioned out of an ancient building with an altar, constructed at Banglavinkunnu for the Sub-Collector (Thukkidi Sayippu) on land surrendered to the English East India Company by the Parambatt (Pattathil) family. Over a century and a half ago, this was the sole British rest house located between Ponnani and Malappuram. During that era, it was also utilized as a "Thukkidi Kacheri" (Sub-Divisional Court) for conducting trial proceedings. A kitchen and a horse stable operated within its premises. Additionally, during the 1921 Malabar Rebellion, the site served as a detention camp. Towards the end of the 19th century, a dedicated Amsha Kacheri (village revenue office) operated at Kuruppumpadikkal specifically for the Iringavoor region (amsham).
